Description

This serves to announce the internal process for selecting one or more Emory nominees for the 2026 William T. Grant Scholars Program (limited submission funding opportunity). Only one applicant per school within Emory (e.g. School of Medicine, Rollins School of Public Health, etc.) may be nominated.

Program Information:

The William T. Grant Scholars Program supports career development for promising early-career researchers in the social, behavioral, economic, or health sciences. The program funds five-year research and mentoring plans designed to expand researchers’ expertise into new disciplines, methods, and content areas. Projects must hold the potential to improve outcomes for youth ages 5 to 25 in the U.S. This is different from a traditional research grant in that it focuses on research AND career development to grow and expand your research skills and expertise. Scholars should be tackling questions that will advance understanding in one of two focus areas:

1.          Reducing Inequality in youth outcomes; and/or

2.          Improving the Use of Research Evidence in policy and practice.

The Foundation supports studies from a variety of disciplines, including but not limited to education, psychology, sociology, economics, public health, and political science. Strong applicants will propose high-quality research, thoughtful plans for expanding expertise, and demonstrate a sustained commitment to understanding and improving youth outcomes. Proposals must be focused, theory‑driven, and policy‑relevant.
