About Speaker: Dr. Day received her B.S. degree in Biology from Emory University and her PhD in Virology from Harvard University. She completed her postdoctoral fellowship in Immunology at the University of Oxford, after which she spent 7 years conducting research in HIV and TB immunology in South Africa. Dr. Day is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology in the Emory University School of Medicine, and a faculty member in the Emory Vaccine Center. Dr. Day’s research program is focused on analysis of human cellular immune responses in the context of vaccination and treatment of infectious diseases in infants, children, and adults, with a particular focus on HIV and TB. She is currently co-director of the Basic and Translational Science Core for the Emory/Georgia TB Research Advancement Center and is also director of the Emory Immunology Specialty Laboratory for the ACTG network. She also serves as protocol immunologist on ACTG clinical trials evaluating novel TB vaccines, TB treatment regimens, and therapeutic approaches for HIV cure.
