She completed her MD, MPH at Johns Hopkins and completed her residency in clinical Pediatrics and postdoctoral fellowship in Pediatric Infectious Diseases at the University of Washington. Dr. Cranmer’s research program is focused on improving detection and prevention of tuberculosis among women and children affected by HIV. She has received NIH funding to conduct clinical and translational research studies to define Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) infection epidemiology in infants, evaluate immune correlates of infant Mtb acquisition in maternal breastmilk, and identify novel biomarkers for TB disease in children living with HIV. She is Protocol Chair for a clinical TB vaccine trial among children with and without HIV and leads a Breastfeeding Program for women with HIV at the Grady Ponce de Leon Center.  She has mentored undergraduate, doctoral, and postdoctoral trainees and is committed to training the next generation of scholars in translational global health research.
