About Amanda W. Smith, PhD:
Dr. Amanda Smith, a patent agent at Meunier Carlin & Curfman, works with clients to strengthen their patent portfolios. Her expertise includes conducting patentability searches, performing inventorship analyses, preparing patent applications, and prosecuting applications before the U.S. Patent Office. As a former patent examiner, Dr. Smith brings an insider’s perspective to the patent process. She also assists clients in optimizing their R&D programs within their industry's intellectual property landscape. This involves assessing their freedom to operate and reviewing existing patents in their field. Before becoming a patent agent, Dr. Smith conducted biomedical engineering research as part of her Ph.D. and postdoctoral work. Prior to that, she held roles in patent examining and pharmaceutical sales, experiences that provide her with a diverse set of perspectives and strategies in her legal career. Outside of work, Dr. Smith enjoys cooking, camping with her children, and completing her law degree at Georgia State.
