Pr. Christian Bréchot is an internationally esteemed physician-scientist and leader whose distinguished career spans groundbreaking biomedical research, high-level academic administration, and global public health innovation. He has held two of the most prestigious scientific leadership positions in France: as Director General of INSERM (the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research, considered the "French NIH") and as President of the world-renowned Institut Pasteur. At the Pasteur Institute, he spearheaded ambitious international strategies, strengthening its global network of 33 institutes and driving initiatives in collaborative research, multidisciplinary education, and technology transfer. 

Dr. Bréchot's seminal research has primarily focused on the mechanisms of viral hepatitis and liver cancer, leading to transformative advances in our understanding and treatment of these diseases. His prolific scientific contributions include over 400 highly-cited publications and 18 patents, which have directly contributed to the foundation of several biotechnology companies.

Currently, he is a tenured professor at the University of South Florida, holding leadership roles as Senior Associate Dean for Research in Global Affairs and Associate Vice-President for International Partnerships and Innovation. He remains a pivotal figure in global health as the Emeritus President and Vice-Chair of the Global Virus Network (GVN), leveraging his vast experience to foster international collaboration and pandemic preparedness.
