Anne Moscona is the Sherie L. Morrison Professor of Immunology in the Department of Microbiology & Immunology at Columbia University, with joint appointments in Pediatrics and Physiology & Cellular Biophysics. 

She received her M.D. from Columbia University. Dr. Moscona's laboratory conducts basic research on paramyxoviruses, focusing on serious childhood respiratory pathogens (e.g. parainfluenza viruses), and lethal henipaviruses (e.g. Nipah virus). 

Her research centers on the molecular mechanisms of viral entry into host cells, particularly the critical role of the viral receptor binding protein in activating the fusion process during infection. 

Through identifying these mechanisms, her lab has discovered promising targets for interfering with viral entry. Dr. Moscona is a Fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology, member of the American Society of Clinical Investigation, and past President of the American Society for Virology.
