We’re so pleased to announce the creation of a new independent Division of Allergy/Immunology, to be led by a new Division Chief, Dr. Brian Vickery! The Section of Allergy/Immunology was previously led by Dr. Arlene Stecenko as Chief of Pulmonology, Allergy/Immunology, Cystic Fibrosis, and Sleep (PACS). With the graduation of the Allergy/Immunology section as its own Division, Dr. Stecenko has renamed her Division as Pulmonology, Asthma, Cystic Fibrosis, and Sleep to recognize the national and international prominence of the asthma and CF research programs within the Division. Thus, we will retain the acronym of PACS with Dr. Stecenko as Chief of PACS.
Dr. Vickery is a Marcus Professor of Pediatric Immunology at Emory, Medical Director of Allergy/Immunology and the founding Director of the Food Allergy Center at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. He is a pediatric allergist-immunologist whose patient-oriented research program focuses on improving clinical outcomes through the application of new technologies that have the potential to change allergy practice. Dr. Vickery is a national leader in food allergy with extensive experience over the past 13+ years in therapeutic development for allergic disease and evaluating the immunobiology of allergic disease and its treatment in both human and animal systems. Dr. Vickery has served in leadership roles at national allergy associations, contributed to national consensus food allergy treatment guidelines, reviewed at top journals, and given numerous invited lectureships and visiting professorships at national and international meetings.
Dr. Vickery completed residency and chief residency at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell and did his fellowship training at Yale University.
In his free time, he enjoys spending time outdoors with his family, playing golf, cooking, traveling, and enjoying cultural and sporting events.
Please congratulate Dr. Vickery for taking on this exciting new role!
