Research
Dr. Kindler's research focuses on identifying diet and disease-related determinants of lifelong bone health, including type 2 diabetes and cystic fibrosis. Elucidating the role of gut-derived "incretin" hormones in bone metabolism (i.e., the "gut-bone axis") is of particular interest. Dr. Kindler's Nutrition and
Skeletal Health Lab uses state-of-the-art bone imaging methodologies for clinical and translational research studies, including high resolution peripheral quantitative computed tomography (HR-pQCT) and dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA).
