Research
Acute lung injury in the developing lung, with particular focus on the effects of the oxidative stress of exposures such as in utero alcohol or in utero nicotine on the alveolar macrophage and its role in lung infection, injury, and repair in the developing newborn. My translational studies include basic science evaluation of alveolar macrophage function with clinical correlation to the premature newborn exposed to the oxidative stress of in utero exposures.
