Biography
Dr. Johnson, a native of Atlanta, is a graduate of Emory University`s School of Medicine, and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at Emory. Prior to her current position, Dr. Johnson was the Director of Community and School Based Clinics for the Department of Pediatrics at Emory University. In that position, she served as Medical Director of the Whitefoord Community Program (WCP) which she co-founded with George Brumley, MD, past Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at Emory University. The WCP is a non-profit organization that was developed as an outgrowth of the Whitefoord Elementary School Health Clinic to address the needs of children and families serviced by the clinic. Dr. Johnson has participated in the development of national standards for comprehensive school based health programs for the purpose of improving the quality of school health services. She has also been active in promoting school health programs in the state of Georgia and in petitioning Congress for increasing federal allocation for school health clinics nationwide. In addition to serving as Director of the Urban Health Program, Dr. Johnson serves as the Medical Director for the predominantly Hispanic, community based Lindbergh and Women Health Clinic affiliated with the Grady Health System.
