Biography
Kira Moresco is the Research Laboratory Manager for the Emory University Department of Pediatrics. Her areas of responsibilities include those labs and research areas in the Emory-Children’s Center and Health Sciences Research Building which are occupied and used by child health researchers.
Kira earned a MS degree specializing in infectious diseases from the University of Georgia and has spent eleven years at the bench in a federal select agent (A) BSL-3E laboratory researching Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza Virus. During her time at the high containment laboratory, she developed an appreciation for the administrative and facility engineering controls that allow scientists and laboratory professionals to safely conduct research on infectious agents. She has a working knowledge of the BMBL 5th Edition, Code of Federal Regulations, and IATA/DOT regulations.
Her role as research laboratory manager is a multifaceted role that ranges from correcting basic facility issues, to overseeing the common core equipment, as well as driving and instilling the culture of safety for the laboratory workers.
