Dr. Parminder Suchdev (far right) and colleagues proudly launch the Lancet Haematology Commission on Anaemia, calling for renewed global action to address one of the world’s most pressing public health challenges.

Anaemia affects 1.9 billion people worldwide, especially children, adolescent girls, and women. Despite longstanding interventions, most countries remain off track to meet global reduction targets, and cuts in health funding further threaten progress.

The Commission, co-authored by Dr. Suchdev, calls for renewed global action by improving data systems, advancing research on nutrition and infection, strengthening governance, and proposing a new evidence-based framework for country-specific targets.

This work provides a bold roadmap to reduce the global burden of anaemia and reflects REACH’s mission to advance child and adolescent health through impactful, collaborative research.

10 ways
10 ways to fight anaemia worldwide — highlighted in the new Lancet Haematology Commission co-authored by Dr. Parminder Suchdev.
