Pediatric Testing Acceleration Lab

PETAL - Pediatric Testing Acceleration Lab - develops accessible, reliable diagnostics for diverse communities, addressing gaps in pediatric testing from clinical settings to home use.

Children's PETAL Lab: Advancing Accessible and Reliable Pediatric Diagnostics

The Children's PETAL - Pediatric Testing Acceleration Lab - is a CLIA-certified, CAP-accredited lab that is validating, implementing, and helping to develop new diagnostic technologies to be used in locations from the clinical laboratory to the home, with a particular focus on diagnostics that are accessible, reliable, and affordable for members of all communities and economic backgrounds. The lab sits within the clinical lab of Scottish Rite Hospital and is thus optimally situated to help identify and fill gaps in current diagnostic testing in pediatrics.

Currently, the lab is partnering with the industry for regulatory submissions such as 510k clearances, assisting with the analytical and clinical validation of new diagnostics, and performing research and development for tests in the research arena. A biorepository of residual pediatric samples is also being established and will be available to support this testing further.
