Policy Updates Effective 2018

EQUIPMENT: Based on usage patterns, the following Equipment Core items are no longer maintained on a service contract:

• New Brunswick Shaker Incubator (s)
• Thermo Scientific Legend Micro 17 Micro centrifuge
• Eppendorf 5810R Table Top Centrifuge (s)
• Bio-Rad Gen Pulser XCell Electroporation System

This equipment remains part of the General Equipment Core and all are available for use until the time repairs are required.  Once this equipment becomes nonfunctional, the equipment will be advertised as available for transfer to an individual laboratory prior to disposal.

COMPUTERS: Additionally, equipment core computers have been configured to no longer allow short or long-term storage of data.  A temporary index will be created when users log onto the core computers which will be deleted when the user logs out - immediately deleting any data stored on the desktop or the hard drive. It is of the utmost importance for users to take the extra step to save their data to their Box or other personal drives or external storage before logging off. All core computers are connected to the Emory Network allowing users to save data directly to their personal drives with ease. Please contact IT support if you need assistance with data storage.
