In general, all requests will be reviewed and approval granted or denied within 7 business days, and if approved, a face-to-face meeting will be scheduled with Core Staff to discuss the project. Please allow for this processing time when submitting your requests.

Pricing & Lead Time Requirements

The Core provides an initial 1 hour intake session for any requested assistance. During this session, the scope of the request and needed resources are determined. 

Lead time and maximum number of fully subsidized hours per service is as follows: 

Technical Editing for Grant Applications

  • Lead time: 15 business days in advance of the deadline and must include initial submission and reviews (for resubmissions) or specific aims page (new submissions).
  • Subsidized hours:
    • Internal seed funds and pilot projects: 8 hours
    • Career Development Award applications: 12 hours
    • Mid-level project, such as R21s, R01s and Foundation Grants: 16 hours
    • Larger program project grants, multi-site clinical trials and grants with proposed budgets exceeding $250K of direct costs per year: please see our Proposal Development Services.

Technical Editing for Manuscripts

  • Lead time: 15 business days in advance of the deadline and must include complete revised draft and reviewer comments (for resubmission) or complete draft. Complete drafts mean data analyzed, figures complete, and references formatted.
  • Foundation of grant application: 8 hours
  • Not leading towards grant applications: 4 hours/investigator with a maximum of two times per year

New/Renewing Training Grant Applications

  • Lead Time: 1 month, minimum
  • The Core does NOT create data tables. Use the Emory's Training Grant Support Office (TGSO) for that AND for logic model creation.
    • If the TGSO is too busy to complete a logic model, the Core can create one for you.
  • Curriculum Consultations, including creating or improving curriculum based on learner needs: 10 hours

Existing Training Grant Curriculum & Evaluation Consultation

  • Lead Time Minimum: 1 month (Tier 1), 2 months (Tier 2)
  • Tier 1: Consultations for Improvement: 3 hours
    • Consultations on improving existing curriculum design and evaluation plans for existing training grants.
  • Tier 2: Evaluation Design: 40 hours
    • Design of evaluation materials, tools, and tracking systems
