Early Stage Investigator Writing Consultations
The PRDC offers one-on-one writing assistance for Early Stage Investigators doing child health research. Writing consultations do not include copyediting (offered through the Technical Editing Services). Copyediting is the process of an editor suggesting or making revisions to a written work to improve accuracy, clarity, and error-free writing.
Instead, our consultations help ESIs understand and revise the different components and expectations of a variety of scientific communications, with a particular focus on audience expectations, structure, and time management. Types of scientific communications often covered at writing consultations include:
- funding applications,
- manuscripts,
- abstracts,
- presentations (oral and poster).
Projects are discussed live with PRDC staff. Requests can be submitted at any stage of the writing process, including prior to starting in order address issues like time management, creating a writing schedule, and setting deadlines.
Requests are accepted based on availability of Core staff. All writing consultations occur via a Teams video call.
